1820 :
The Genesis of Greatness
Our story began in South Asia when the founder, Haji Mohammad Hashem (1789-1850), moved from Isfahan to Bombay.
1830 :
British India and the First Tea Industry
Haji Mohammad Hashem started the business with exporting tea to various countries around the world and expanded it in Calcutta. He was the sole Muslim name on the Calcutta committee of the Assam Tea Company
1900 :
Formation of M.M. Ispahani and Sons
Following the regional expansion of our business from Bombay to Madras and Burma, Mirza Mohammed Ispahani (1871-1925), the son of Mirza Mehdy Ispahani, established the Calcutta office of M.M. Ispahani and Sons.
1918 :
Addition of a Visionary
Mirza Ahmed Ispahani (1898–1986), the eldest son of Mirza Mohammed Ispahani, joined the partnership.
1940 :
Largest Raw Jute Exporters
We emerged as the largest raw jute exporters in India, and established Victory Jute Products Limited in Calcutta, which was later transferred to Chittagong.
1946 :
The first and only Muslim owned airline in British Raj
Mirza Ahmed Ispahani established Orient Airways Limited, registered in Calcutta on October 23. However, following the partition, the Pakistan government nationalized the airline.
1947 :
Final Relocation
The corporate headquarters were relocated to Chittagong, where it stands today. Our company rapidly expanded its business activities and became the foremost exporter of shellac, kapok, hessian, jute bags, tea and chemicals.
1949 :
New Chairman Appointed
Mirza Mehdy Ispahani, became the chairman of M.M. Ispahani Limited.
1950 :
One of the Largest Jute Mill in the Private Sector.
We established Chittagong Jute Manufacturing Company Limited (CJMCL) in Kalurghat.
1954 :
Pahartali Hosiery Mills (PTHM)
We evolved into one of the pioneers of textile manufacturing in the country and further expanded Pahartoli Textile & Hosiery Mills in Pahartali, Chattogram.
1960 :
Venturing into Tea Production
We ventured into tea production in addition to our exporting activities. The tea production began on the Neptune tea garden land in Fatikchhari, Chattogram. Gradually, we took over Zareen tea garden in Moulvibazar, Ghazipore tea garden and Mirzapore tea garden.

We established Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital and have been looking after the eye care needs of hundreds of thousands of indigent people since
